1982–83 NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team

The 1982–83 North Carolina State Wolfpack men's basketball team represented North Carolina State University. The Wolfpack were a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The team went 26-10 on the year, winning the ACC Tournament and eventually the national championship.
==Cinderella run==
The Wolfpack finished the regular season with a 17-10 record and would likely need to win the conference tournament outright in order to secure a bid to the NCAA Tournament, which at the time only invited fifty-two teams. The path would be tough, as NC State was likely to have to defeat North Carolina, the defending national champions, and Virginia, who entered the tournament ranked second in the country and had already beaten NC State twice that season. They managed to knock off both schools, defeating North Carolina in overtime to get to the championship game and then beating Virginia to win the ACC.
Placed in the West Region and playing in the sub-regional at Gill Coliseum on the campus of Oregon State University, the Wolfpack's first game was against Pepperdine, whom they managed to beat in double overtime. They then faced the #6 team in the country, UNLV, and handed them only their third loss of the season. When played moved to the regional site, the Dee Events Center at Weber State University, NC State beat the #10 seed, Utah, and then won the region by defeating their conference rival Virginia, the bracket's top seed, for a third time in as many matchups. They finished off their run to the championship game by defeating Georgia in the Final Four, which set up a matchup with top ranked and heavily favored Houston.
